As a result of all these factors, obesity has become an inevitable phenomenon. Obesity<\/strong> Obesity is defined as a person's current weight being significantly higher than expected for their age and height. Obesity is calculated by dividing the patient's weight by the square of their height (kg\/m\u00b2), resulting in their Body Mass Index (BMI). The reference point used in this measurement is the one established by the World Health Organization (WHO).<\/p>\n

What are the consequences of obesity?<\/h2>\n
Once this disease progresses to the morbid obesity stage, it is unfortunately impossible for patients to lose weight through diet or exercise. Patients usually try to lose this weight with various medications (which can be dangerous enough to worsen the disease), but the weight lost through these methods is quickly regained. As a result, there is unfortunately no solution to obesity other than surgical intervention. If obesity is not prevented, it can lead to other related diseases (coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, etc.)., insulin resistance<\/strong>, sleep apnea syndrome<\/strong>, calcification and rheumatism in the bones, fatty liver<\/strong>, gallstones<\/strong> Obesity is a very serious disease that opens the door to various health problems. Besides the damage it causes to the body's systems, the profound psychological harm it inflicts on mental health is also of significant importance. Obese patients experience low self-esteem and feelings of worthlessness due to their excess weight, withdraw from social life, and begin to live unhappy lives in their own isolated areas. This isolation accelerates the progression of depressive mood and obesity. Past traumatic experiences, incorrect medication treatments, and unsuccessful weight loss attempts are also significant factors that cause patients to lose faith in their ability to recover.<\/p>\n
