Mini gastric bypass surgery was developed in 2001 by Op. Dr. Rutledge. Since its inception, this method has influenced the entire world and is preferred by many patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is known to be simpler and safer than the Roux-NY (RNY) method. Furthermore, its effects on metabolic syndrome diseases are more potent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How is Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Performed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patients who have been unable to lose weight through traditional diet and exercise methods may choose this treatment method. This surgery, performed using a closed (laparoscopic) technique, is done through 4-5 small incisions in the abdominal area. Performed under general anesthesia, the procedure requires the patient to be free from anesthesia-related complications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this method, a tiny stomach pouch, 15 cm long and 2 cm wide, is created on the stomach using staples. This stomach pouch is then connected to a section of the small intestine between 180 and 200 cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This surgery reduces the volume of the stomach. As a result, patients experience satiety sooner. It also blocks food passage in a specific section of the small intestine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The patient is typically hospitalized for 3 to 4 days after surgery. A feeding tube may be placed in the stomach for 2 to 3 days. Eating will also be restricted for the first two days. If there is no risk of leakage, liquid food intake can begin after the third day. After that, pureed and soft foods are consumed. Necessary pain relievers and precautions to prevent blood clots are taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gastric bypass surgery is a more difficult procedure than sleeve gastrectomy. However, it offers a higher rate of weight loss.
