Nutrition After Gastric Reduction Surgery

There are three main stages after surgery:
Phase 1 (liquid diet)

Foods that can be consumed during the first two weeks;
- At least 1.5-2 liters of water per day.,
- Carbonated, non-alcoholic, sugar-free drinks,
- Occasionally, diluted apple or grape juice can be consumed,
- Broth (you can add 1-2 drops of lemon juice)
- Chicken broth (you can add 1-2 drops of lemon juice)
- Vegetable juice is diluted,

- All drinks should be sipped slowly and stopped when you feel full.
Phase 2 (Soft and watery diet)

Foods that can be consumed in addition to the first two weeks;
- Liquids and purees should not be consumed together; a break of at least 30 minutes should be taken between them.
- At least 1.5-2 liters of water per day.,
- Boiled egg,
- Low-fat cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt,
- Fruit puree,
- Vegetable puree,
- Chicken puree,
- Fish puree
Stage 3 (Transition to solid foods)

Foods that can be consumed in addition to the first 4 weeks;
- At least 1.5-2 liters of water per day.,
- Boiled eggs, lean scrambled eggs or omelets,
- Low-fat cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt,
- Fruit,
- Meat and chicken dishes with vegetables (avoid vegetables that cause gas)
- Meatballs, fish, and chicken dishes can be preferred, using low-fat cooking methods.
In addition to all of these, the following foods are prohibited:;
- Carbonated and alcoholic beverages,
- All sugary drinks,
- Full-fat milk, buttermilk, kefir,
- Caffeinated beverages,
- Carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, rice, and bulgur,
- Fried foods,
- Dried legumes,
- Nuts,
- Coffee
